No customer support

McAfee's software has crashed both my computers, each with different operating systems, and for the second year in a row. The new software CD does not install properly and McAfee provides absolutely no information on how to contact them for tech support!. When I finally do contact them via the web site it takes up to an hour to be told, via e mail, that someone will call you the next day for tech support. They do call, but it is the next day and they do not call at the time promised. If you miss the call you start all over again. If you are lucky enough to actually ever speak with customer support, they often do not fix the problem the first or second time. So you start over again on their website to contact them. The have NO PHONE NUMBER to get in touch with them for help. This product and their support is ***.

McAfee billing credit card for renewal w/o permission

McAfee sent me an e-mail informing me that they automatically renewed my subscription. They say that I signed up for auto-renew but I specifically remember otherwise. They billed my credit card for $76.46. After I found my way through their maize of a website I found the customer service number and e-mail. I was promised a refund within 15 days. I told them that I prefer to renew my own subscription when I decide. But the more I think about it the more it feels like slamming. I'm looking elsewhere for my virus protection needs.

yEP HERE WE GO AGAIN JUST FOUND OUT BEEN GETTING BILLED FOR 4 YEARS WITHOUT PERMISSION TO ACCESS MY CREDIT CARD OR WITHOUT EVER PROVIDING ME WITH A SERVICE, THEY EVEN QUOTED A EMAIL ADDRESS THAT HASN'T EXISTED FOR 8 YEARS AS BILLING ADDRESS PISSED AND VENGEFUL

#682632

Yes the same occurred for me....& the keep giving me dodgy numbers I call to get a refund

#544901

After cancelling my auto-renew subscription one month (30 days) BEFORE renewal date McAfee billed my VISA anyway. How they did this was a mystery to me because the card had expired.

When I called them today and asked them how they were able to bill me they said ... "we have an agreement with VISA to get the new card information" ...!!!! They had no agreement from me to contact VISA to get my new info ... this sounds like fraud and needs to be escalated to the most senior Executive levels of McAfee.

They are an extremely difficult company to reach into ... does anybody have any ideas?

Same here....

Listen Buster, it's great that you are so smart. But that credit card thing needs to be disclosed UPFRONT where it's plain as day and not in some obscure place where the majority of us dumb people won't bother to look or overlook it.

This is exactly what McAfee counts on and many more people than yourself fall for it. Do you work for them or what???

#105142

To Ccrump_98 and Adrian Thorne,

You guys along with a bunch of dopes out there who sit here and post lame complaints on here need to READ the End User License Agreement like smart people out there do before clicking "I Agree".

Ive been a McAfee customer for 7 years and before I clicked "I Agree" PARAGRAPH four (read it again *** it explains about you being billed one month before your account expires. The EULA clearly explains that if you have ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT AUTOMATIC RENEWAL TO CALL!!

Whine about something else bunch of p00nanis!

:zzz :grin

A payment was taken by Mcafee on Dec 25 2008 without authority. I wrote, complaining of their action and asked for a refund.

No credit ever made. It has now happened again on December 25 2009.

I have asked for a dispute form from Visa and once again contacted Mcafee. I am sure this is a fraud on a major scale which needs investigation by the authorities.

Mcafee virus protection

their virus protection program that i bought did not protect my computer from virus. i tried to resolve it online since they have cleverly hidden any phone number that is possible. i have been directed to their virus removal program but that would cost me about the same as the program that i bought for protection in the first place. Every telephone number that i found were disconnected or no longer in service.I will be contacting every possible agency that will help me on this matter. I am currently retired and i have all the time to post my complain.

I would suggest you look at a company called Secure Remote Support, located at secureremotesupport.com. They provide an excellent service to help you with your virus malware and spyware problems. They're reasonably priced as well.

Now back with Norton!

I was very happy to erase all trace of Macafee (sp?) from my computer. My computer began moving like a dinosaur. First, it wouldn't even allow me on the internet b/c it wasn't safe. Then it took a good 7 - 10 minutes for a page to open b/c it was checking it out for me. Everytime I was working on my computer LOUD bell ringing occured to alert me of trouble - it was very disturbing. No one ever was available to disuss these issues with me on the phone. I now have Norton Antivirus & Spyware protection and couldn't be happier!

I'll never use Mcafee again.

I had a vondu trojan and went to Mcafee for their $65 virus removal. Their website says average wait time 3 minutes. I filled out all of their forms including credit card info and waited. This was Fri 4/25, it is now Mon 4/28. That is a long 3 minutes, and I still haven't heard anything from them other than an e-mail thankinig me for using their service and giving me my service number and charging me $65, not once but twice. I called Symantec, and it was fixed in about 2 hrs. Needless to say I uninstalled my Mcafee virus protection and I'm trying someone else.

No support fromMcAfee'stech support from India

The McAfee tech support provided from India is worthless. They are idiots who not only cannot help you, but give out bad information that make the problems worse. I was told I had an old version because I had a "red M" on my computer. I had just downloaded a new version a few days earlier. That was an out right lie, there will always be a red M no matter what version of McAfee you have. Every time I contact tech support they tell me I have to reinstall to correct my problem. I have reinstalled 10 times in the past 12 months, and nothing changes, it does not help anything.

McAfee changed my creditcard info so they could renew without my permission

McAfee is a ripoff and their customer service sucks. I had their software for a few years and when I finally found a better program (AVG) I tried to cancel McAfee. But, unfortunately my email address had changed a few times, I couldn't remember how to get into my account, and it's not easy on their website to find contact info (a common problem with companies on the web - they bury that stuff so that folks don't call them) That's okay, I thought, I know the credit card I used is about to expire, so they won't be able to charge it and it will just go away. Hah. Cleaned out my desk one day and came across the info I needed to log into McAfee - and darned if they didn't change the credit card dates themselves to something like 10/2022 (covering themselves for many years). Then I went back and found the charge buried on my credit card (shame on me for not finding it). But the worst is that after calling customer service they refuse to remove the charge and gave me another number to call - a special customer service number where no one ever, I mean never ever after hours on hold answered the phone. It's clear that they do not intend to refund my money, even though they can see that I haven't updated my McAfee program in nearly 2 years. That's okay, I will content myself with telling the world what a ripoff this company is. Not only does their software do a lousy job while tying up most of the available resources on your computer, their company policies are suspect and the people on the phone, when you can actually reach one, are obviously trained to do anything except give you a refund. Yeah, that's good business. So McAfee, you deserve this. And I'll keep spreading the word anywhere I can.

McAfee automatically renewed our subscription in Nov, 07 without giving us the opportunity to decline. Last week the hard drive on our computer had to be replaced and the new one did not have McAfee preinstalled.

After having problems with the McAfee Security System during the previous paid year of service, we decided we weren't going to fool with it again. I contacted them yesterday and got the usual form letter reply with the additional statement that McAfee does not give refunds after more than 60 days from renewal.

And they do not pro-rate either. After reading this, I have contacted our credit card company and requested that they flag our account and not allow McAfee to ever submit any charges to our account.
