McAfee = Theft!!

I have just looked at my bank statement and discovered that McAfee have taken £54 British pounds from my account, this for a service i did not ask for or want. I am reporting this as fraud to my bank and i would like the funds returned NOW..... What right does this company or should i call them thieves have to help themselves to my money? I did not ask for this service and do not want it. I'm furious that they have taken this money and by reading some of the other complaints it seems that they have stolen money from quite a lot of people!!!

sessa,

You are truly a ***. People like you are too *** to understand the complaint.

Companies generally don't randomly access people's bank accounts ***. Obviously you had to give them your banking info at some point and probably signed up for an account to be automatically renewed. How is this fraud?

Appalling software, pathetic service...

I purchased McAfee Antivirus software from McAfee Site. After installing it worked fine for 3 weeks. Then suddenly it said "Certificate Expired " and asked me to Activate. I called McAfee support they did something remotely in my machine and it seemed to work. I asked if this will recur. They guaranteed it won't. It recurred after 1 month. Again I called and they fixed remotely. I again asked "Are you sure it won't recur!" They assured me it won't recur. It has recurred again. Their service is appalling. If my PC is not protected half the time because of this, I was wondering why spend money and purchase a licensed antivirus software. I would not recommend anyone to buy McAfee. They are fraud. I have all the ticket numbers saved for which I called McAfee for support. I can show if need be.

Tried for over a year to get a $35 rebate from McAfee/Winferno

I have sent dozens of emails to every number, address, support, etc since June 2011 after buying both software products online in addition to backup discs. I paid $107 with a rebate of $35 expected; I went round and round and round with them telling me I need to send my bar code off box. HOW DO YOU TELL SOMEONE WHO IS SO CUSTOMER SERVICE ORIENTED THAT I DID NOT BUY THIS SOFTWARE IN A FREAKIN BOX. I HAVE LOST MY TEMPER NUMEROUS TIMES IN THIS TIME PERIOD TO DEAL WITH THESE ??CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE?? AND DO YOU HAVE ANY JOBS?

Like others, who have McAfee, my internet connection was dropped after a McAfee update in late April or early May 2012. The way I got back Internet access was to restore to an earlier time, prior to the McAfee update. Then McAfee comes up saying it needs to be updated....

I bought the CD at Walmart, it installed then updated installed after that... exact same problem – Lost Internet Connection.

People in India went onto my computer remotely for 5-hours trying to solve the problem to no avail. While on my computer, they were able to view all my private info including passwords and credit card numbers. They never did fix the problem and the next day my computer was inoperable, so I had to use the Recovery disk to reactivate my computer. Then I had to go and upload all the Windows updates, which nearly takes an entire day, then I had to change all the passwords the people in India had access to.

Save yourself a huge pain in the *** by not buying McAfee. I personally will NEVER buy another McAfee/Intel products – EVER!

McAfee:Worst Customer Service

The McAfee technical(self-proclaimed only) department was unable to install the McAfee Internet Security software onto a third computer on my network. I had already installed it onto two PC's successfully and contacted the technical department for assistance. The first technician, after telling them I had already installed the software onto two PC's, proceeded to follow the installation instructions provided in the retail box. After his unsuccessful attempt, he stated he needed to take the matter under discussion with his supervisor and would call back the next day. Well, day two arrives and I receive the promised call back from a second technician, and again, he follows the instructions provided with the retail cd and again, the installation fails. I asked if I could have the matter escalated to the next tier technician or a manager, as he followed the exact same steps as the first technician. He refused and stated he needs to take the matter under discussion with his supervisor and would call back the next day.Day three arrives, and a third technician calls, and I requested he provide me the steps he would be attempting to install the software. He stated he would need to discuss the matter with his supervisor and would call back the next day. Day four arrives with another technicians call. This time, he begins a different installation process that enters into the Command Prompt and begins to delete files without permission. After attempting to restart my computer, Windows will not load or begin to start up. The McAfee technician stated he fix the problem and never called back. I took the computer to a trusted technician and paid for the repairs myself. When I ask the customer service to reimburse the out of pocket expenses, they claim I never allowed the McAfee technicians the opportunity to make repairs. Moving forward a week, I have now been put in contact with the Executive Escalations Team and have been threatened with a denial of technical support and contradictory claims from within the team itself. Well you see the pattern...frustrate the customer until they go away. This has to be the WORST customer service and I will NEVER use nor recommend a McAfee product.

McAfee should be sued!

I purchased mcafee total protection after dumping Norton, and I TOO got the dreaded blue crash screen after install! After calling tech support they had the nerve to tell me it was my laptop but were quick to ask if I had a win 7 restore cd! I feel they asked this cause they knew, seeing as so many people had experienced this! Coincidence? No, I dont think so! Anyhow, since i didnt have this CD, I deceided to take it to a repair facility, sure as ***, MCAFEE crashed my sys! At a tune of 110.00 to repair! I called them immediately to cancel the service and wanted info on who to speak to about reimbursement of the cost to fix my laptop and was told we dont do that! After a few choice words to the barely english speaking man on the phone I hung up and will keep an eye on the refund, since I see that is also an issue with them!!!!! I REALLY THINK SOMEONE NEEDS TO BRING A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THESE IDIOTS!

McAfee antivirus

since it came with my new computer, I decided to try Mcafee antivirus. Wrong move!! It turned its own firewall off, told me my computer was at risk, then wanted to charge me for more tech support to fix the problem! That did it for me. I uninstalled it then had to do a recovery on my NEW computer to restore whatever changes Mcafee made to my registry. I then installed Avast antivirus and noticed my windows firewall was back on. Don't know what this company is doing but it's definitely a way to make extra money at the cost of the consumer. My initial opinion of Mcafee is totally justified. Bad, bad, and worse!!!!!

Unauthorized debit card charge

Apparently I have a LOT of company in this situation, McAfee fraudulently charged my debit card. I have been dealing with their hugely deficient customer service for 3 weeks now and am doubting I will ever receive my refund at this point. What this company is doing is illegal, they should be shut down. I have filed a complaint with the Silicon Valley branch of the BBB as McAfee headquarters are in Santa Clara, CA and am looking to join a class action lawsuit if one exists here in CA. Anyone reading this in a similar situation PLEASE file a complaint with the BBB.

McAfee billed me illegally. Keep clear of them

I had used McAfee for several years. My computer got slower and slower until it was taking about two minutes to save a word document. It became unusable. I contacted McAfee and they denied they would cause the problem. I had a technician remove the McAfee stuff and it ran like new. I notified them to casncel my contract. No reply, but I have not received any of their updates since then and my computer continues to run well. When renewal time came round again they continued to bill my credit card for $98 New Zealand. I was too busy to do anything about it. In November 2011 my credit card expiry dates were changed. January 2012 I began getting reminders from McAfee to update my credit card details. I got four of these reminders. Every time I advised them that I wanted the contract cancelled. No reply to any of my comments. I thought, never mind, my credit card dates have changed, they won;t be able to bill me. Bloody ***, my credit card was debited again. How did they do that? On compaining to the bank I was told that they would have just guessed that it would be renewed for two or three years, and just tried each month until they got they right one. This is absolutely outrageous. The bank told me that they only way to stop them debiting my credit card was to cancel the card and get a new one, which I have now done, so they are out of luck in future. But how many other poor saps are they sucking in. They are an immoral and unethical company. If you are looking for computer security, keep clear of these people. They are bad bad news. McAfee Customer Service is HORRIBLE

I've been a long-time McAfee user and had Total Protection installed on 3 home computers. I bought a new PC and deleted McAfee from the old PC but my McAfee account still said I had 3 PC's registered on a 3 computer license. . I called McAfee 'customer service' (oxymoron) to get the problem solved. I couldn't understand half of what the customer service agent was saying (English was obviously not her first language). After 90 MINUTES on the phone with her and her repeating the same thing over and over and over again, I finally got fed up and told her that I was going to cancel my McAfee subscription (even though I still had 6 months on it) and install Norton instead. Her attitude was 'Who Cares?'. . I've uninstalled McAfee and installed Norton on all 3 PCs. I'll never use a McAfee product again.

McAfee service is NOT !

...Bought a new licence, in November...now, in February-I could not update, because their inept people or systems. Referred me back to my old e-mail account, and my old expired license and the renewal page. New license had been active, and working for 3 1/2 months. Called tech support,I could barely understand the technicians, all "OFFSHORE" , I'm sure. No solution after two days and several tries to re-install. Maybe they are trying something many other companies DO : send a renewal notice, hoping the customer doesn't remember when they last renewed, or paid a bill ?? I know what SERVICE is...the right thing , at the right place, at the right time !!!! Mclaffy does not.

Charged account without permission

Update by user Mar 29, 2012

My bank sent me fraud papers to fill out and 2 wks later the money was put back into my account. The bank is still checking into this matter. If this happens to you, report the fraud as MCAFEE has NO right to do this.

Original review posted by user Feb 27, 2012
Account charged without my permission for product I DID NOT order. Bank is issuing fraud charges and if this happens to you, contact the police, bank and attorney general of your state!!!! This was on Feb. 18th at 12:00 p.m. and with Monday being a holiday the banks were closed which gave MaAfee 3 days to withdraw my money. I may have had McAfee years ago but that still does not give them the right to withdraw my money without a request for whatever they took my money for!!!! To much of this going on, TAKE ACTION now!

McAfee rip off

MCAFEE IS A TOTAL RIP OFF!!! I bought a new Acer notebook, a Travel Mate. When I plugged it in and turned it on, Mcafee was already installed (I presume as a free trial, but I never was able to find out). I set up my McAfee "site advisor" when prompted by the computer, and decided that I would try McAfee for the free period and see if it was worth the money. Soon after that, the "site advisor" would pop up anywhere from 3-6 times each time I tried to access a website, requiring me to enter my password in order to view the site. If I clicked another link of that webpage, "site advisor" would pop up again, 3-6 times. It was maddening. I tried to access my settings in McAfee, and was able to change my settings to a lower security level on the control panel, but when I exited out I got a box saying McAfee was "unable to save" the new settings. Then, I decided to just uninstall McAfee and put in the security suite which is free with my ISP. Guess what? It wouldn't uninstall!!. Then, I called the number on the McAfee help screen, and was connected immediately to India or Pakistan (never can tell those apart). The CSR told me, after I gave him control of my desktop by downloading a tool, again which I had to enter my "site advisor" password about 20 times, that McAfee was not working properly, and th e reason was that I had "a lot of bad stuff" (his exact words) on my computer, and that he could et rid of the "all that bad stuff" for a small charge of $100.00 for a one time tech support fee, or $200 for 3 years, unlimited visits. I asked him if McAfee was not supposed to allow "all that bad stuff" to get on my computer in the first place, and he said that it was if it was working properly. When I persisted, he asked me if my computer was a "McAfee computer" or a Windows computer, and that the problem was with Windows. I disconnected and hung up on him. I then restored my computer to the day I opened it, and thank the Good Lord, McAfee uninstalled and I was able to download the CA security suite, which works a whole lot better. I say again, MCAFEE IS A TOTAL RIP OFF!!!

This must be their standard business practice. I have no doubt they infected my computer and shut down internet and all removal tools to get me to buy their protection. They must think we are ***.

Hey guys check out my complaint about Mcafee too. i'd link to it but Idk how to do that here.

I also was told bogus *** about paying $130 fee to "get premium support" for the product I already paid for. Mcafee was on REALTIME scanning and protection and allowed a ransomware virus to infect my computer!

Mcafee didn't even notice it! I restored my pc and all is good so far today, but those pieces of dirt never even told me I could try that they just tried to scam me out of money like hijackers did!

#508887

:( I got the same *** problem :(

But is resetting my Acer the only way?!

:[ I think i can never have realy cool stuff on my computer... Well thx Mcafee

#488502

I found out today McAfee has been billing me annually because I didn't tell them to cancel my "trial" subscription. I never agreed to a subscription and I never used their product. It came pre-installed on my old Dell computer.

After an hour with them on the phone today they said there was nothing they could do.

I said" ok-let me see if I have this right-you have charged my account annually for the past

few years even though I have never given you authorization to do that or ever established an account and now you are saying there is nothing you can do...is that about it?"

I call that stealing. They kept insisting there was nothing they could do. Maybe a class-action law suit would wake them up.
